Indiana University Southeast

Indiana University Southeast is considered to be a regional campus within the Indianan University System. It is situated in New Albany, in Floyd Country.

Floyd McCurry was that one to establish the Indiana University Falls City Area Center in 1941. It was established as an extension of Indiana University. The classes were taking place at the New Albany High School and in Jeffersonville High School.

Indiana University Southeast moved to the buildings of its own only in 1945 into Jeffersonville and was renamed into Indiana University Jeffersonville Extension Center. Being an Extension Center, the main aim of it was to give the opportunity to the freshmen and the students of the second year of education to attend the classes near the residence of their own before being transferred into the Indianan University Bloomington campus.

In 1968, a new name was given to the extension center; it started to be named as Indiana University Southeast. The same year, the Indiana University Southeast was granted its first degrees.

In 1973, Indiana University Southeast moved to its campus situated in New Albany.

Nowadays, the main campus of Indiana University Southeast is located in 15 minutes of commute from the Louisville, Kentucky. The university offers associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees.
